Many of those already mentioned I agree with. Amazing Grace to the tune of House of the Rising Sun - inspired!

We had a "tune switch evening" at a Singers night I was at a few years back where we managed to sing "God save the Queen" to the tune of "Pop goes the Weasel" and vice versa. It wasn't easy.

In pagan circles, Greensleeves has been repeated too often. It's not just harpers, Red! It's a nice easy piece on guitar, which means you hear it all the time.

Jack, you have it all wrong. Taps is fine. Reveille I can do without.

Most sound bite songs hacked to an over played 10 seconds for a commercial, like Für Elise, are difficult for me to listen to. At least DeBeers payed to play "Palladio" in their adds.

Now if you are bringing in classical snippets, I'll mention "Zadok the Priest". Lovely bit of music, but recently every documentary seems to use it.

Yeah...I still can't stand that one because it was so overplayed.

Stand By Me is right up there as well for me...and for more recent stuff, Photograph by Nickelback was hugely overplayed when it was popular. I literally had it stuck in my head for a week. I even dreamed it was stuck in my head.

Another one! Red, Red Wine by UB40. I swear, they must have re-released that blasted thing like 100 times. Can't they do any other songs? That has got to be one of the MOST overplayed songs EVER in the history of overplayed songs. If I never hear it again, it will be too soon.
