I detest candy corn, and always have. But I'll admit that when I was little, I thought eating it was kind of part of Halloween, so I would have some despite my general dislike of it. And I ate them emm style...one layer at a time, which is really stupid of me because it only prolonged the disgusting taste in my mouth

There is something about candy corn that nauseates me. There is just something wrong for me about candies made from that odd chewy stuff. It is a subtle flavor-odor and texture thing for me. I, too would eat them a different color segment at a time before I started finding them nauseating. The strangest food aversion I have, though, are for hard, dry pretzels. The dark brown glaze on them has an odor that makes me very sick to my stomach.
When my children were young one year we were able to raise sweetcorn in the back yard without the squirrels eating it.rebl_rn wrote:While Spawn of Satan is a little strongly worded, I do greatly dislike candy corn. I have never liked it, even when I was a kid. I've never liked cotton candy, either. I even remember getting my polio vaccination on a sugar cube - it was about 4th grade - and objecting because I didn't want to eat the sugar cube. I asked if I could get the medicine without the sugar, and they said no. So I guess I'm weird about sugar.
At meal time I set a pot of water to boil, ran out to the garden & harvested the corn fresh, threw it in the boiling water for a few minutes then fished it out and served it.
My son and daughter, who normally gave me no problems about eating vegetables (and at the time were usually served mostly vegetables), each took one bite and refused to eat any more.
They said it was "too sweet".
I must have had candy corn in the long distant past. I must not have enjoyed it because I do recall throwing it away as soon as it was ever given me as a child.
Since then I've become a die hard label reader.
End of story.

That's exactly what I do! Only, it's very important not to let any of the middle get bitten off with the tip and none of the bottom to get bitten off with the middle.emmline wrote:Flyingcursor wrote: Does anyone else here eat each color individually? I used to do this as a kid, trying to figure out if the colors each have a slightly different taste from each other.Lambchop wrote:That's exactly what I do! The texture is different; the white is a bit stiffer than the others.
As for the taste, the jury is still out. I'll just have to do the experiment some more.
