Will you be sending a batch to www.bigwhistle.co.uk ?

I don't like customs charges you see.

All the best,

John_T
Yes, I'll be sending BigWhistle a shipment of whistles, including Blackbirds, in the next few days. Allow about 10 days for them to get there.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Yes, we experimented with this and found that the Blackbird head works very nicely on a variety of different 1/2 inch tubes from Feadóg, Generation, and Waltons. So you can mix and match to customize your own sound and material preferences.

Jerry has asked me to do a few "official" sound clips, which should be ready by the end of the week.

This is very cool, I may have to get one after a multi-year whistle embargo. I just rediscovered a forgotten Jerry-tweaked feadog and have been having a blast playing it lately. I'd given away a great feadog and this one fills the gap perfectly.

Besides the SR-71 tie-in, I can think of other great advertising opportunities. Custom graphics depicting, for example, a "Blackbird singing in the dead of night"...or "Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie"...

Sigh.

This raises a question I'm not sure how to deal with.

My mouse logo is central to my business identity, especially since Ralph II was instrumental (pun is accidental, I swear) to many of the breakthroughs here at the Global Penny Whistle Tweaking Research and Production Consortium (GPWTR&PC) Headquarters, and Ralph I, Gus and Mouse kept me company during so many long nights as I slaved over the tweaking table. (Deermouse, meadow mouse/vole, meadow mouse/vole, and deermouse in order of mention. Deermice are more stylish than voles, but a vole will sit on his haunches and make eye contact while he nibbles whatever snack you've provided.)

However, before long, I will be going into mass production with two whistles that are named Blackbird and Mellow Dog. Hmmm ... .

Best wishes,
Jerry

Well Jerry, since you like your mouse so much you could just put little masks on him. lol

These are rough, but you get the idea.

Hope I didn't offend. All in fun!

Those are a scream.

I'm thinking maybe a baying dog logo for the Mellow Dog and (obviously) a blackbird logo for the Blackbird, both as simple silhouettes, somewhat like the mouse logo. I can continue with the mouse logo as the overall symbol for Freeman whistles.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Yes, they are.

I sent 10 Blackbirds to www.bigwhistle.com Wednesday, and I've mailed all those ordered to date, the last of which went out today.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Does that mean mine is on it's way? This waiting drove me to buy a fiddle - oh dear what have I done?!

Are these Blackbirds available in C? If so, how much?

There's an oldtime Southern fiddle tune that gets played around here called 'Four and Twenty Blackbirds Dancing on a Fawnskin'. I think it's really about carrion crows, though. Probably wouldn't make a very good logo. :-?

Jerry,

I've looked on the Big Whistle website and there's nothing about the Blackbirds coming in. Also, I contacted them a few weeks ago to ask when they were anticipating delvery so I could place an order and as yet, I have had no reply.

It seems like us poor souls on the other side of the pond might be better buying directly from you - or do you have another outlet in the UK?
