That's an astonishing picture, considering all of the energy being consumed.

However, it gets right to the point, as to just where the "action" could be.

I just hope nobody needs it explained to them exactly why this picture must be a composite shot...

France spent a lot of money putting up streetlights which don't cast a lot of light upwards. Partly to save money, but partly to aid amateur astronomers and allow people to enjoy the night sky. It also had to do with not giving unecessary clues to unfriendly aircraft.

I've seen satellite pictures which show France as this dark shadowy region in Europe, with the Ruhr lit up by contrast.

This has been mentioned before, and someone kindly posted something which had a bearing on it. I can't even remember who was right and who was wrong. Somebody must be telling porkies, though.

If my parents ever saw this photo, one of them would say, "Shut the lights off, this is not Grand Central Station."

Spots of interest. :)

How the people of egypt seem to be crowded close to the Nile.

The Transsiberian going from Moscow to Beijing.

I think it's a beautyful picture that makes you think. :)

Strange. Has anyone realized that on this picture it is night time on all continents?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this must be a photomontage.
