Your poll answers aren't going to get you a job in research.

Ringtones are, of course, an abomination. People's phones ringing in public is a minor annoyance. People's phones playing loud, tinny, and obnoxious songs is a major irritation.

I answered that it is okay, seeing as how a couple of my favorite ringtones have been the Mission Impossible theme and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
So how can I deprive anyone else?

Sadly though, my current phone, a Palm Centro, does not play downloadable music ringtones. (unless--in theory--you buy/install a program called Ringo, which may well frack up your phone, as it did mine. They gave me a refund.)
Anyway, my Centro ring of choice is a ragtimey blues riff of no particular pedigree.

But for all practical purposes it doesn't matter anyway since when I'm out and about I have it in my pocket on vibrate.

What if it's a cool song? Mine is the beginning of the guitar solo from Stairway to Heaven. :D

I like using my favorite song as my ringtone. Currently it's one of the new Alkaline Trio songs.

What annoys me is people who have a different ringtone for different callers! I've thought about doing it to be cute....but nobody calls me enough and those bloody ringtones cost about 3 bucks apiece!

I hate electronic make-believe "ring" tones. All modern phones make this phoney wrrt wrrt noise. What was wrong with the real ringing of a bell on the phone? I like the sound of a real bell on the phone. If I were going to pay for a ring tone, it would be from a recording of a real phone bell ringing.

I use one of the pre-set tones, it's very subdued. I think its named something like "rain forest" but really, who needs so many choices? I think a phone should just ring like a phone.

But, honestly, I did have a brief indulgence. I had Conway Twitty, singing, "Hello, Darlin....."
Every time I turn around, I wonder where I've been.
Time to stop turning round, I guess.

Okay... I might make exceptions in my overall stance for the Ramones. Maybe.

That's what my Sony Ericsson has. A recording of a ringing phone is one of the built-in choices. (Or if it's not a recording, it's a very well done synthetic bell.)

I would like to have a neat song for a ringtone, but the only one that's pre-programmed that is loud enough to hear is the old fashioned ring. Even at that, if I'm in the other room or someplace noisy I can't hear it. If I'm expecting a call I'll program the phone to vibrate as well as ring and put it in my pocket where I can feel it.

My old phone rang nice and loud, but everytime my purse fell over the buttons got pushed and I kept calling people without meaning to.

I can't send text messages for some reason, but I can recieve them. I did e-mail tech support and they said take out the battery and replace it, but that didn't help and I never followed up. Sometimes it would be handy to be able to text.

I voted no because my phone plays annoying Rock music, not pop :D

At the moment it's Sabotage by the Beastie Boys but it's been Faith No More, Pantera, Refused and Guns and Roses in the past.
