lisps

Post by Jack »

Do any of you have a lisp? I recently met somebody with a lisp. What causes a lisp, does anybody know?

Hah, Denny and Emm did the same joke.

I don't have a real lisp. I do find myself with the gay lisp from time to time, though.

I used to have trouble with the "S" and "R" sounds when I was little, but I finally outgrew that.

Where do they come from? Lisps are a personal moral failing. If you really want to, you can just say "no!"

One of the great programming languages!

I don't have a lisp. My wife has a lisp, which only manifests itself at times of stress. It is endearing.

The persistence of lisps is probably due to neoteny. (IMO)

IIRC it's the tongue being too far forward in the mouth, eitehr that or the tongue root being too large (so much more of hte tongeu than usual is connected to the floor of the mouth).

I have no lisp.

I can get "S" OK, but much of the time my P's don't quite come together and my V's usually disappear completely, e.g. when I order a "fizza with errything". :-?
