Television, or not?
Two TVs hooked up to Direct TV with each a Tivo. Nothing fancy. The one in the living room is a couple years old. The one in my husband's exercise room is well over 20 years old.
We usually only watch programs we've already recorded.
He usually watches science fiction.
I watch home improvement, travel, and the food network. So, I guess you could say I watch science fiction too.

That sums it up pretty well.anniemcu wrote:Have? Yes.
Watch? Not much.
Thousands of channels, nothing good on.
We have a large, flat-panel HDTV in the den, with cable TV service ('cause antenna reception in our house sucks and I'm too lazy to install an outside antenna). It's our one-and-only TV. With all those cable channels, what do we watch? The local weather report.
We do, however, watch a fair number of DVDs. (Recently got a Blu-Ray player and surround-sound system. Yeehaw!)

I am a tv junkie, and have no shame in saying so. I do typically hate the reality and game shows, though. I like the Travel and Discovery Channels. I also watch several scripted shows. I'm currently looking forward to the return of:
The Shield
Lost
Heroes
Chuck
The Office
I'm also looking forward to the latest from JJ Abrams (Fringe) and Joss Whedon (Dollhouse).

I hear Toshiba hasn't given up the ghost yet; that they're coming out soon with a new DVD player for non-BluRay disks that apparently sharpens the image considerably when playing older DVDs on large-screen HDTV sets. Always room for one more toy ...

We have the tv and basic cable. I pondered dropping the cable service because we use Netflix a lot, but I do like some of the shows, I can't deny it even though it makes me feel like a sheeple.

Nope. I won't admit to watching a lot of TV...mukade wrote:Masturbation and watching a lot of TV - nobody will admit to either....
Seriously, I can't be arsed with it. I'm trying to get at least tolerable at one of the instruments I mangle (mandolin, whistle, fiddle, uke), I have a day job, I freelance in the evenings, I go to the pub every evening at weekends, I have a weekly session and ad hoc gigs to play. Even if I wanted to watch much TV I wouldn't have time.
Luckily for me, I really don't want to. From what I see it's mostly a waste of electricity.
Movies are a different thing. I love a good movie.

We have a little (13 inch screen) tv we bought in Ennis before the celtic tiger started booming. We went several years without one before that, we only had two sockets for electricity in the house when we moved in anyway. We actually haggled over it in the shop and got it for just under £40. We live in a deep valley and the aerial on the roof just about picks up RTE 1&2 but nothing else. And out of those two, one is depending on the weather.
Never had a video but can watch DVDs on the computer if I'd want to.

We've got a tv in the living room and one in the morning room. This is so that the DH can move when I play piano. Upstairs there's one in our bedroom that is only turned on when the granddaughter wants to watch a vcr tape and one in my sewing room.
I might watch a couple of hours of tv a week, and that's usually Spongebob. Between work, the much anticipated occasional after work nap, practice piano, practice oboe, sometimes adding practice whistle, then computer or bill paying, I don't have much time for watching tv.
