FTG - I finally get it

Post by Traveler »

Years pass... I collect and/or play numerous "high end" whistles including 15 O'Riordan's, and don't give a second thought to "cheapies" (or to threads about them on this forum, for that matter).

This past Saturday I'm in San Francisco and drop by Lark In The Morning's new digs in the Mission District to check out a Chieftain A. While hovering there in the whistle department, I noticed a bundle of what's labeled "Freeman Tweaked Generations." Though she wouldn't sell them individually (dad-gummit), Kira encouraged me to play them. Hmmm... I might not get this opportunity again, so, I did.

The epiphany came about 30 seconds after the first note. WOW!!! I couldn't have imagined they're SO NICE... great response, intonation, tone, character, and balance; moderate backpressure, good chiff, great sound and volume... all the things I look for in a whistle. I would've bought a couple had she consented to breaking up the bundle. Gee... maybe I should go back and buy them all!

Maybe the Chocolate has finally cleared your brain. Have you seen the larger jumbo bottle of Hershey's that Wal-Mart sells? The single serving bottle in your avatar is impractical.

The Lark in the Morning here in Seattle always has Freeman tweaked individual whistles floating around. I'm pretty sure they sell them on their website. You can always order one on there or another website that has them if you really want one.

They are very good whistles eh! I love my Mellowdog even more than the Gens.

I actually got to try a Burke not long ago for the first time (also first high end whistle I've tried) and couldn't tell a lick of difference!

I love that Jerry can make a cheapie better and sell it for a reasonable price.

You should be able to get one shipped for $40-$45 or so.

He does, but I currently only see the tweaked Sweetone and Mellow Dog there (a great whistle BTW).

You should be able to contact him through the forum though.
