The house was built in the 1930's. We are two blocks away from Butler University and very close to the canal trail and White River that runs through Indianapolis.chas wrote:Doug, what a beautiful house! When was it built? My wife and I had a gabled Cape Cod when we were first married. I'd just tell first-time visitors to look for the gingerbread house on the left.
For what it's worth, and that isn't very much, I don't usually wear socks with sandals when I am around the house. However, when I am going out or have company coming, I wear socks to cover the tatoos on my ankles and feet. Frankly, I see nothing wrong with wearing sandals and socks together.

Ahhhh, Doug, Doug....... Nothing "wrong" about it at all, indeed - absolutely a fixed part of the English scout master image.Doug_Tipple wrote:Frankly, I see nothing wrong with wearing sandals and socks together.
Rights and wrongs aside, it is something that southern Europeans deride with a mixture of horror and astonishment in British tourists of a certain type.
Lovely knees (and zinnias), though.
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!

KO and I look dour only because the sun was directly
in our eyes.
Also the lady in American Gothic
didn't box, unlike ma femme, who really packs
a wallop. I bob, I weave. If I were younger I'd
be one of the great defensive middle weights.
I want to see Doug's tattoos, too, but he always
wears socks. One can only imagine....

Quick, Doug! Look over Jim's right shoulder! I see long, cylindrical things that haven't yet been cut up and drilled full of holes!
Thanks for posting. It's always nice to get that personal connection!
