T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the place
Not a whistle was playing, --not a soul could keep pace;
For the bodhrans were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Dale Wisely soon would be there.
The Whistlers had settled all snug in their beds,
While Copelands and Overtons danced in their heads;
When outside my quarters I heard such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
Preparing for landing, a jet made its turns,
I saw Dale-Force One and eight tiny interns!
When out of the cockpit a whistle tune tooted,
I knew that it must be the great Undisputed.
His knowledge of whistles put others to shame,
Till he took each out slowly, and called it by name;
"Now, Feadog! now, Reyburn! now, Hoover and Dixon!
A Walton's! a Sweetone by Clarke! and a Chieftain!"
A bundle of whistles was flung o'er his shoulder,
Whoever receives them will need a large holder!
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the bodhrans; then turned with a smirk,
He sprang to his jet, having left ev'ry whistle,
And away Dale Force flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he faded from sight,
"CHIFFY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!"

That's lovely, Walden! Do you think he makes oversea visits, too?

Of course he does, but not just overseas. He warps intergalactically through the Cosmic Drainpipe to deliver rock crystal flutes to You Know Who.

Brilliant parody. You started my day with a laugh.
BTW-- the original was first published right in Troy NY, where my office is.

You know, it's been my experience that children believe in the Undisputed. Then they get to be adolescencts and young adults and they no longer believe in him. Then they get older and have kids, and believe in him all over again.

Oh! I love it! :grin: That's wonderful Walden! Wonderful!
Light spills into the hidden valley,
Illuminating the falls, paths, and
The breathtaking Elvish dwelling
Set back among great trees.
Lilting strains of Elven songs fill my heart;
I am finally home.
