About 10 years ago I got an email from a friend of mine in France who said he would send me a K7 and I had no idea what he was talking about, until I remembered that the letter k in french is pronounced "kah" and "7" is pronounced "sept" and I realized it was shorthand for cassette.
When we were in Maine a couple of years ago we saw a car with a vanity license plate that said "Piano KC," which I assume was meant to advertise a guy named Casey who played the piano, but in French that would be read as "piano cassé" or "broken piano."
Kelly, just remember you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince

Nah, I'm not that thin any more. Sigh. At least I have all my hair, grey or not!
Aanvil, how could you (let on)? Especially when I promised I'd let you toot my flute? Nothing frozen in the cellar, though!Aanvil wrote:theres a little snow it the basement too

BTW, lots of mammaries in Wales. I live not far from a big hill called Moel Famau - the nice chapel folks translate that as "hill of the mothers" but we all know it really means "tit hill". It even has the stub of an old tower right on the top. and guess what it looks like from Chester and the Wirral.
Re: new clip. Our jester is more obviously highly competent and knowledgeable on this evidence! Not so funny. Should have got the dog to blow in the whistle. Hey, how come this is on the flute forum anyway? No nasties entailed, David. The only Trojan Horse is the thread itself and the only virus is the one affecting Kelly's tongue and fingers. Or maybe that's more a result of what she's been blowing?

Right. Well, I never post in the flute forum, because I don't have a flute, but someone clued me in to the new member, so I came to check.bradhurley wrote:About 10 years ago I got an email from a friend of mine in France who said he would send me a K7 and I had no idea what he was talking about, until I remembered that the letter k in french is pronounced "kah" and "7" is pronounced "sept" and I realized it was shorthand for cassette.

But...in the above vein--I was listening to a French newsmagazine--a story about a new commuter train line near Paris, and it baffled me that the name for this particular line was "tais-toi," which basically means "shut up." Took me a while to realize it was T-3.
