Eugene is a nice little college town. I have a friend who has the money to live anywhere she wants to. She chose Eugene, OR.

I visited Eugene. It is bike friendly, and beer friendly. If a person is into either or both then it is good place. It helps if a person likes drizzly overcast climate. It is that way for months at a time. There are mountains and the ocean within driving distance.

Visited there in the late 1970-early 80's. Lovely spot then. Nice folk too. Dunno how it is now though.

It's just a few miles from the Oregon Country Fair, which I understand is a big festival of hippies.

Also the headquarters of the Open Bible Standard Church.
