Now this is sad news indeed! He was a great man, who really left his mark in the musical world. Thanks, Bernhard, for all the joy you gave to us! You won't be forgotten. Let your beautiful instruments now sound in the heavenly choire as well!

This is very sad news. The low whistle family has lost it's founding father. It is a measure of the love and respect I have for his instruments that I own nine of them. I never met him personally and that is something I shall always regret. RIP, Bernard.

Sad news, the father of the Low Whistle has gone. My condolences to the family of Mr.Overton and to all his friends. And Colin and Brigitte, also especially to you. And I hope, Colin, you'll keep on making Overtons in Bernard's spirit. You're the best!
The spirit remains.

I had a long chat on the phone with Colin Goldie today. Always a pleasure and it had been too long. He pointed out that Bernard had recently been on stage at the Big Whistle Weekend 2008 with Joanie Madden and Phil Brown and that photos were taken. I was able to locate this link:

Godspeed to you Bernard. You've left the world a better place.

If you can displace a few of the harps with whistles, you'll improve the next world as well.
