I don't see the problem if it's the best available space away from where your wife is watching the other tube and you don't watch it instead of sleeping and you don't watch it when your wife wants to sleep.
My personal preference would be to find another room for the second tv, but I don't think there should be any hard and fast rules re appropriate uses for rooms as established by someone other than you.

We have a TV in the bedroom, and I like it that way.
1) When our daughter needs to be working on the computer (which is in the loft of our A-frame) while we want to watch TV, it's a godsend.
2) When I go to bed before my husband does, and need something to help m mind shut down, it's a godsend (trying to read at that time of the day is an insult to the book)
3) When we both want to catch the end of a show, but want to sleep right after it's over, it's a godsend.
I honestly can't see a problem with it, unless one spouse is watching TV to the detriment of the other's sleep (or instead of being intimate). Heck...it can be NICE to cuddle in bed while watching something sweet (or cheesy) on TV!
When we were first married, we used to cuddle together on the floor of our apartment while watching TV. Neither of us is up to lying on the floor for any length of time any more, but it's still nicer to spend those evening hours in each others arms than sitting primly on a couch.

The other Weekender was dead set against a tv in the bedroom; I had little to no opinion about it, having never had more than one tv in the house for most of my life. It didn't seem like a good idea to me.
Then we got this house, in 2002. Every room just happened to have a cable connection. In 03, the boys got one tv to share, on a rolling cart, between their rooms.
By 05, it was in our bedroom, as the boys didn't turn out to really use it much (they don't do video games hardly at all) and are too busy to watch regular tv, preferring the occasional movie or skate video.
For the other Weekender, the tv is her white noise tranquilizer. I come to bed later. I sometimes use the sleep timer, leaving 10 minutes on it before it shuts off automatically.
For true sleep assistance, you can't beat Charlie Rose or CSpan. For semi-interested snoozing, Colbert or the news.
