I spend a great deal of time and effort trying to appear like I know what I doing. Glad to see it's paying off!

Ahh, the Flatley Method.
Heck, if it will help me play as well as Michael does, I'll give it a go.

The good thing about this method is it ensures that what you're playing is danceable...otherwise you're likely to fall on your a$% or simply look like you have a seizure disorder.

Flatley is a great dancer, but possibly the worst "professional" player I have ever heard, and I've heard him play live. Sounds like falling down stairs. Save the jumping up and down for a pro like Ian Anderson.

Guess that's why he only took second in the All-Ireland Fleadh. Piker.

Actually, I heard he'd won. So much for competitions, eh?

Or, more to the point, so much for your assessment of Michael flatley's flute playing. Cheers,

Ah, well, you have your opinion and I have mine.
Have you ever heard him? If you fancy what he does, more power to you, but I thought his playing abominable, and at the time, I'd never heard of him, so had no preconceived notions. He was opening (as a flute player, not a dancer) for Battlefield Band some years back.

My opinion doesn't enter into it. You may not like him, but he certainly can play or he wouldn't have won the Fleadh, now, would he? Words like "worst" and "abominable" tell me you've confused your own opinion with a realistic assessment of Flatley's skills, as proven in fierce competition. Maybe you don't like his style - why not just say that, rather than trying to imply that he can't play? Anyone can see that he's a accomplished player, whether he's tasteful or not. Cheers,

Have you seen American Idol? or any of the bazillion rip off duplicates. They have winners too.

I take your point. He's an accomplished player whose taste and style I do not recommend.
