Are your bagpipes to loud ?

A forum about Uilleann (Irish) pipes and the surly people who play them.

I wonder if they'll place the same sound restrictions on muezzins calling the faithful to prayer from the minarets of mosques? (Something tells me that they'll be get a multiculturalist exemption in soon-to-be Eurabia...)

That has to be BS. I understand the noise polution thing but this is rediculous! What is a pipe band if it's not loud? No more hairs tingling on the back of your neck.... there's too much govt. & too many laws on both sides of the Atlantic unfortunately.

What really kills me is that they say they're doing this to protect the performer. Well, if the performer is having such a problem with the volume they'd take up a different hobby. And does anyone really want to go listen to a symphony if the orchestra is wearing ear plugs? I don't think so.

Come on you guys, this is what the GHB'ers have been waiting for. They're finally going to be branded outlaws!! After years of promoting the myth that playing GHBs was once punishable by death, they now have proof that it'll be punishable by something worse than death - EU Regulations.

Of course, there's the unthinkable alternative: narrow-bore GHB!

And you wonder why people get sick of this place? Just add a bit of xenophobia and racism to the old ignorance and there you have it.

Awww ... come on just another Euro myth ... you actually buy that stuff ... come on people no one is cracking on bagpipes and no one will prevenet a pipe band from playing ... for crying out loud have some critical distance to what you read.

P.S.: I take all that back if abovemetioned comments were jokes.

I think that says it all.

Tell that to your fellow European Geert Wilders (better hurry, he's under death threats, you know!). I'm not xenophobic or racist (at least no more than the next person, I suppose). I just have an adversion to the gross intolerance of Islamic fanatics.

Did you ever notice when there's an argument brewing someone starts referring to me being a Dutchman?

I fail to see what point anyone is trying to make by doing that but it shows you which way the wind blows don't you think?

Sorry, Peter, I thought you were Dutch. I meant no offense by that. If I were Dutch I'd be very proud of that fact. In any event, it really doesn't matter. Change Dutch to European (or whatever you like). Peace!

Where are the moderators when you need one? Let's take this one to the pub, where it belonged in the first place.

How about simple gross intolerance? Who/what/when/where/why does any part of this have or the "logic" that fell out of it to do with Islamic fanatics?

It sound like it's a good thing Peter L. is not Islamic - the teaser for the news......"non-Dutch piper mistakenly killed in preemptive strike against Islamic fanatics by proud man. Boogie Man escaped unharmed, again......film at 10."

And for the record, I think it should now be called Eurostan.
