I didn't expect to like He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, but I got stuck watching it on a long bus ride to Manila, and found it rather entertaining.

'Cause sometimes you just feel like wallowing in the kitsch. Like, because. I mean, "Brotherhood of Satan"? What's not to love about that? The very name promises gratuitous tripe and glurge, and sometimes that's just the thing.

Then maybe you see some actual acting - good acting - and it makes the experience all the tastier. Sort of like finding a good quiche under all the ketchup; neither is improved by the pairing, but you eat it anyway.

Actually, it would probably be Firefly/Serenity. I knew nothing about it before seeing it on DVD and absolutely loved it to the point of becoming a serious fanboy.

Thought it was going to be rubbish, but it turned out to be excellent.

Same for me. I read the book and thought it sucked, but the movie turned out to be quite good.
