That's some remarkably good camouflage against the snowy scene.

And a charming scene it is, Claudine. I can't imagine you'd ever take it for granted.

His name is Ricky. He is now 14 years old and half blind, so I was really scared he might fall off that rock when he walked so close to the edge. I thought his unexpected presence on that photo made it look quite funny.

I'm jealous. I WANT another foot of snow, and instead it's all going to you folks who don't appreciate it! This is my favorite part of winter (March, and into April), when it's so bright and sunny, not too cold, and more fun to ski than any other part of the winter. I don't want it to melt yet. There's plenty of time for summer May through August.

We have such a scant snow cover this year that it's all going to melt away fast again. I'm predicting we'll see bare ground in April again this year. In the old days, when we got real snow and spring came weeks later than it does nowadays, we often had patches of snow around until the end of May and even into June.

Cool picture, Claudine. Makes me want to resurrect the "Where do you live thread." :)

We're into the only truly ugly part of the year in Wyoming. The snow has melted off, but things don't green up for another month or two. So everything is a million shades of brown, gray, dull yellow, dull browinsh yellow-grey.

It's bearable, though, because we all know what is coming... :D

Yeah, break-up is the ugliest time of the year by far, but all the sunshine helps make up for it. At the rate we're going, we'll have that in another couple weeks, unless we get some more snow. But you didn't mention the truly "lovely" part: all the TRASH that gets exposed when the snow melts. As a community, we are slobs -- way too many people drive with trash in the backs of their trucks, uncovered (and yes, that is against the law), which blows out. The snow covers it all winter, until breakup arrives and we see 7 months' worth of trash lining our roadways. We have a big community clean-up day in early May, but it's sad how fast the trash starts appearing again after that. Maybe people are better behaved in Wyoming and it isn't as bad there. (Or maybe they have curbside trash pickup and don't have to haul their own trash?)

Actually I appreciate snow and it is not unusual but also rare to have snowfall in the end of March here. It is just I liked it more having snow in winter, where we had also periods of 16 °C (~ 61 °F) or more.
We had already gentian blooming (which is common happening early and indicates the coming of spring) when this stormy cold came. Now temperature is raising a little and most of the snow has already gone.
The only hope is that it killed some ticks, which really are a plague here.

There were Robins here today! I couldn't believe how many there were in our yard...it was amazing. it would really be nice if spring were really here and winter went back to it's long summer's nap. But I'm sure that we'll have yet another storm of sorts here in the North Country. We always do :sniffle:

I don't think we are better behaved; there are just a whole lot fewer of us.

We just got slushed, again (combination rain & snow). Another two inches.

Robins are latecomers, here. I have been listening to the trill of the red-winged blackbirds for about a week, now. To me, they are the real harbingers of spring. They seem a bit miffed about all the snow and ice still lingering this year.

We got something like 5 or 6 inches. Not too bad. Fortunately the ground is not frozen anymore so the roads cleared up by late afternoon.
This seems frighteningly familiar though...my mother in law was joking with my wife when our oldest was born back in 96 saying "at least you won't have to go to the hospital in a snow storm", it being April. It was the 17th in fact and we got a foot of snow that week. It's not quite April now however it's getting close :boggle:
