Yeah, we're a bit chillier than MT, but most of the oaks have leafed out. The blossoms just started blowing off of the various ornamentals near my office and all the cars are covered in yellow pollen. I have a dry cough that won't go away and it's driving me crazy. Musta been the mountain bike ride...

I think we'll have a decent Easter up at the family ranch (Mendocino Cty) though nippy. Fortunately, my brother-in-law has a kegerator that he stocks with Scrimshaw or Red Tail Ale, so I won't care. He also builds one of those outdoor firepit fires in case we get too cold. He might barbecue some oysters, too.... Little butter, garlic, dash of Tabasco... Lamb for dinner, right off the place, butchered earlier this week...

Spring

Post by pastorkeith »

Ah, now spring I miss.
In south Florida spring means about 8 more weeks until the winds shift, the humidity cranks up and the mosquitos breed like...well...mosquitos.
I did spend this morning sprucing up the butterfly garden. They never leave us. Hey - that's a positive! Lots of Zebra Longwing catipillars today. The milkweeds are in full bloom as are the pentas. The passionflower is in bud and the lantana is blooming from the recent rain.

Up north we had three thousand daffodils in bloom.
Now that was SPRING!

Spring blessings

Crime rate ALWAYS soars in spring. I'll have to buy Mrs ChasR expensive plants that will die by june. Allergies, potholes, pollen, leaky gutters, vermin under the porch, fleas on the dog ...grrrr  :x ......pi$$ off, spring, imho.

Cherish that last foot of snow djm. We got none. :sniffle:
Oh bleh....go rain on someone else's thread...this one is supposed to be HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!! ;) You have to understand I truly detest the cold and snow (by the way, we still have about 6 inches on the ground too...there are just a few bare spots that squish nicely when I jump around on them :) ). The coming of Spring is an awesome thing for me. I LIKE eating my dinner in natural light rather than iridescent. I LIKE watching the grass grow in the back yard (unless, of course, Mr Izz doesn't mow it and I lose a child or two in there...). I LIKE expensive plants (lol). And since I don't have allergies, I could care less about the pollen. ;) So despite your less than enthusiastic response, I'll continue to do my Spring Happy Dance
bunch of silly fauns hoppin thru the grass, all o ye!

spring is a pathetic little nusiance-of-a-woos-season jumbled in between the big boys.

No worries: I'll let you reciprocate when I start my "AUTUMN IS GLORY" thread :P

ah.. AH...AH.. CHOO!!!! sniff..

It's snowing here. Of all the dastardly, hideous things for the first day of spring.

we have 0°C and light snowfall. but in the morning when i wake up i can hear a few birds singing. some trees have already buds. so spring can't be far away. in a few weeks we will celebrate the 1st of may in the lush green forest. the weather will be fine and the beer will be plenty :-)

We had our Ostara ritual in the woods today. We met at the pub and revived at the pub. There was beautiful sunshine, then a sprinkling of rain, then more brilliant sunshine, then a thunderstorm with hailstones.
But we had a good time.

Got out the ol' snowblower again, there was so much of it. Thing is, it's warm enough so that there was still some melt, and the poor wheezy little machine doesn't handle slush all that well.

Snow. Yay.

I hate to be the sour apple in the bunch, but this was taken around 4:30pm or so, in San Dimas Canyon near home with my camera phone. I was on my road bike and I had to stop and take it all in.

I kept thinking that I was only 15 minutes away from the freeway; all you heard was the small creek and some insects buzzing around.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

We woke up to 3 inches of Spring this morning. I've got 49 dogs and 4 cats in the kennel and the snow makes things harder.

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

We just got back from south Utah/Grand canyon (stay tuned for pictures!) where the temps were in the '60's and low 70's. Sunny and beautiful hiking weather.

We came across South Pass last night in a complete white-out. Seriously couldn't see from one snow plow marker to the next. The kind of weather where the only thing scarier than going on is stopping.

Woke up to 20 degrees F this morning, sunny and lovely outside.

Welcome back to Wyoming.

Wow! Folks in Missouri and Arkansas got over a foot of rain. Hope there's no C&F-ers affected. Not the happiest way to bring in Spring.
