Someone in my high school class was having a birthday. As the kids were talking about birthdays, I turned toward the class and said in a serious tone, "Do you realize that everyday is somebody's birthday?", as if that had come to me as a new realization. Groans came from the classroon, and one girl said, "Mr. Tipple, you are so stupid". I let her get by with it that time.
