High E and High Eb whistles

Post by talasiga »

Who, apart from Shaw, makes high E and Eb whistles, mid range price, no aluminium in the mouthpiece?

Thanks.

Burke, Sindt, Susato, Humphrey...to name a few. Copeland too - but not mid-range price.

The Humphrey E or Eb costs $87.00, which is not too pricey. Also, the E, Eb and high D trad have the same tube size. I haven't asked Gary, but I think you could buy an E for $87.00 and an Eb tube to use with the Eb mouthpiece for an additional $18.00. That would be a pretty good deal.

I have both high E and high Eb from Susato and I love them, mainly that Eb, they sound very good and are not very shrill like the high F or high G, anyways, it's Susato, they're loud. I've the Dublin (non-tunable) models. They're just u$s 22,90 each one and u$s 39,90 for the tunable ones, if I remember correctly.

Susato are my favourite E and Eb. The Gen Eb is also a nice whistle IMHO.

I've not tried an E-flat, but Jen Felio owns an Elfsong E that is a lovely whistle, though not a very loud one.

Once upon a time, Tom Doorley tried that whistle, and was very enthusiastic about how it played.

The Dixon Trad is a decent High Eb. I have one with a nickel tube and it plays a treat. None of the intonation problems that are common in his Ds.
There's and old Irish saying that says pretty much anything you want it to.

I've been playing my Jerry Freeman tweaked nickel plated Eb generation today for the first time - been too busy with my others I got at the same time to get to it till now. Anyway, I think this is a very nice whistle. Plays really well - possibly better than any of my other whistles (maybe that's because it's smaller and therefore easier to play for me) Just fun really. Cost wasn't too bad either.

Glenn Schultz made Water weasels in E and Eb.

Erle Bartlett's Syn whistles come in about every imaginable key as well.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Doc, I have SYNS in C#, C, B and Bb, some wood others alum.
I would like to try some other maker/s for the E and Eb.
I also have a Sweetheart D in maple (an old one).

Lets keep the suggestions coming.
Its not just a topic for me.
