1998 O'Riordan Low D for Sale on eBay

Post by flutio21 »

I just posted a listing on eBay for my 1998 O'Riordan Low D Whistle. I received this whistle as a birthday present that included a trip to Ft. Wayne and a delightful chat with Pat at his home. Great guy, great whistel! I'm playing mostly flute these days and am hoping to find a real whistle player to grab this instrument.

:o Wow, who would be insane enough to pay that much for a whistle?!...oh, wait a minute, that would be me  I did sell a few other whistles on ebay to raise some money first, so technically I only paid around $500 for it out of pocket, about what you would pay for a new copeland low D...hmm...copeland, there's one of those on ebay right now isn't there? :D WHOA!!!!
Long live the Low Whistle!

It would have been greater than his greatest dreams, had he allowed himself any at all. -MP-

Sholey Hit,
That would almost tempt me to sell mine.

Well, here goes.

O'Riordan whistle for sale. Low D made in 1999.

I'm selling this for a few reasons.

I had been thinking about selling it for a while and a comment at a gig last night sealed my decision.
It's most instrument makers hated question.
"So if your Low whistles are so great, why do you still play this old one."

Incidently, uilleann pipes maker Martin Preshaw sold me his prized Leo Rowsome chanter after someone uttered the same ghastly comment to him!

So now that I'm making and playing my own low whistles, the O'Riordan whistle probably won't be played for a good while unless it finds a new owner.

The other reason is a financial one. I don't want to bore you all with personal woes but my wife had surgery in january and I've been offloading unplayed instruments to keep on top of medical bills and this one has to go too.

PM me if your interested with a reasonable price (I'm certainly not asking for an absurd 4 figure price) and I'll forward pictures.
Sound clips can be heard here http://cdbaby.com/cd/tommymartin2 track 7.
