Anybody see the fireball?

Post by Charlene »

I woke up to the DJs on the radio this morning talking about a light in the sky. They said it appeared to have hit the ground somewhere north of Spokane. When I turned on the local TV news they had reports from people all over the viewing area. One guy said he was headed towards Lewiston, Idaho, and saw a red light and thought it was someone shooting off fireworks. Someone called in from around Walla Walla and said she saw a white light and heard 3 sonic booms. Even a KREM TV news team that was on their way to a fire west of town saw a light in the sky.

I was asleep. Most interesting thing that's happened around here in a long time and I was asleep.

They say it was NOT the spy satellite. Officials are saying it was probably a metorite. One newscaster referred to it as a UFO - unidentified FALLING object.

Is that the title of a book or movie or TV show or video game?

Or are you saying the Martians are even now getting up on their tripods and moving across the frozen wheatfields of Eastern Washington?

The media now says it was a metor and that a pilot saw it hit the ground in southeastern Adams County, which is west of Spokane.

Movie - David Duchovny, Orlando jones, Seann William Scott, and Julianne Moore, - very much fun!

Fireball interrupts a young man's practice for his Firefighters Exam, and triggers an evolution of alien life, with cast of unlikely and very funny heroes.

Thanks - I'll have to look for that one.

And I obviously can't spell. Meteor.

A couple of years ago in my area there was a phenomenally loud explosive noise, like a sonic boom only ten times louder. It was heard over a wide area of north Cornwall and was in all the papers the next day. There were no aircraft in the vicinity at the time (and anyway it was way too loud to be a regular sonic boom unless the plane had been flying very low :boggle:) The conclusion was that it was most likely to have been an exploding meteorite over the Atlantic nearby. Unfortunately there was total cloud cover at the time.
