Flu

Post by crookedtune »

    I got it.

And I even got a shot this year.
My neck of the woods is getting creamed this year. How's it out yonder?
What's your take on the vaccinations?

From what I understand, two of the most virulent strands this year were not included in this years batch of vaccine. Just part of the crap shoot that is part of developing flu vaccine, I guess. We're getting hit hard here, too.

Martin and I got flu in November, and were both incapacitated for about four days, but fortunately not overlapping.

I got it first, which unfortunately coincided with a vacation to Dorset. Martin got it the day after we returned - which was (in a way) lucky, because if he hadn't been able to drive us home it would have caused many problems! (I haven't got a UK licence yet.)

I got it. It sucks.

I have five classes and two jobs, and my doctor told me (verbatim): "Stay out of the cold and rest more." Ain't gonna happen. :P

I think I'm over mine... think. I'm exhausted.

Its had me for about 2 weeks this time. Ruined my birthday! (almost :D )

I was down during Xmas and New Years too.

I hope I've got it out of my system. Really sucks.

Cran I haven't been able to take any time off either.

Prolly why it drags on so long for me.

I'm keeping Day-Quil in bid'ness.

I had something. Not sure what but it was a whopper. It's been one month tomorrow and I still have some after effects.

I had that, too, and I think it is the flu.

It's going on 3 weeks for me, stayed in bed a full 3 days, but I have to work and my energy level is still so low that I feel like a completely different person.

I'll be thrilled to be back to my olde self.

It's ugly out there. I understand much of the flu in this current cluster comes from strains not "covered" by this season's shot.

This is actually my first winter I haven't had it. Usually I get it twice a winter, but this year, I am healthy.
I wonder if that is because I am living in Utah instead of Iowa now?

Everyone in my family has had it. I managed to only miss one day of work but it stayed with me about two weeks. Some of us whipped it quicker, some took a bit longer. Not fun.

I work at a preschool, so it is really going around me. I was really sick Monday, but that was it.

So far we've been lucky. We did get the shots (always do), but as folks have pointed out, they don't always provide 100% protection. I haven't been sick at all this year aside from a couple of tummy bugs, and a cold I came down with this week (knock on wood!).

Last time I had the flu, it landed me in a hospital emergency room, coughing blood and sucking on the good ol' Albuterol bong. Nasty business!

Stay well out there, folks!

Well, this explains it. I guess I fell into the unlucky 60% range....
