Why am I posting?

Post by Mitch »

It often intrigues me why I am spending time on C&F when conventional reason tells me I am am merely procrastinating.

Could this be true?
Or is there a higher motive at work?
Perhaps a lesser one?
What is value anyway?
Am I dancing at the behest of the gregorious gene in my DNA?
Should I just log-off and go do that damn taxation thing?
Does the "art" thing over-ride the tax department?
What does procrastination mean anyway? ( I know the latin root means "do it tomorrow" - pro: towards. crass:tomorrow, "ination":gobbledygook modern parsing to make something an adjectival noun) - sometimes that's the best advice, not always.

How is it with you?
...

Damn - better go do my tax thing.
All the best!

I chose:

I have something that is important for me to say

But I really wanted this choice:

I have something that is important for you folks to read.
Rose tint my world. Keep me safe from my trouble and pain.

Right now, anything that has to do with whistles (and music) is most important to me. I believe events are cyclic and I gladly welcome this period of devotion and energy to playing, learning and reading the comments posted on C&F. Fun! :)

O Other

I came here to learn about Irish flutes-- spent a couple of months reading in the archives and gradually it became less about the flutes and more about the people.

When I was reading through what was written several years ago, it was like reading a book. But there's new pages being written here every day-- it is a living work of art that is creative and eye-opening and insightful....and random.... and snarky..... and lewd. Puerile even. And don't forget the puns!

It makes me laugh every day. I'm so tickled to be part of it.

I work from home...my social contacts are through school and church. Most of the people I know F2F are a lot like myself.
People here are different!
Really different!

So I guess I am here for the entertainment.
Entertainment and education.
Um, entertainment, education and procrastination....

I post mostly
1. to make clever people laugh, and
2. to demonstrate that, for me, speaking my truth is more important than making friends.

I think I must be at least 50% successful because, I get hardly any friendly PMs. Honestly.

As a consequence of my above post someone has sent me a friendlyPM.
I have not replied. I do not wish to compromise my freedom.

Of course it doesn't necessarily follow that friendly relationships need compromise one's freedom of expression or independence in general. I have lots of friends who exercise great independence. Most of them I have not seen in thirty years. I don't even know where they live anymore.

A lot of these friends were hippy dippy, rolling stone, blues come lately GUITAR types from the late 60s/early seventies when it wasn't that common (hardly at all) to come across the likes of me with my bamboo flute holding my ground in a room JAM filled with raving, chorded, wound up guitarists and wannabe singers of Cohen/Dylan ilk.

So a lot of my posts which are a bit down on guitars and mind numbing chords are, perhaps, posts addressed to these independent friends. I know you are all out there reading this.

I just want to say "I love you all but your guitar playing stinks and I am delighted that djembe circles have replaced guitar circles as a groovy lounge interaction in radicalised households of prattish children of nauseatingly sweet middle class parentage".

I know you all love me too and thats why you all keep away from me. You respect the value I place on personal liberty.
