The Tolkien Society :
Tolkien Society wrote: On the 3rd January 1892 JRR Tolkien was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa. To celebrate this event, on this day each year Tolkien fans around the world are invited to raise a glass and toast the birthday of this much loved author.
The toast is "The Professor ".
For those unfamiliar with British toast-drinking ceremonies:
To make the Birthday Toast, you stand, raise a glass of your choice of drink (not necessarily alcoholic), and say the words 'The Professor' before taking a sip (or swig, if that's more appropriate for your drink). Sit and enjoy the rest of your drink.
To add yourself to the toast, you can go here:

I don't know...I'm not feeling particularly Hobbitish. I think I'd rather have a glass of champagne that was left over from New Year!
Anyway, I thought it was cool enough to pass on. I didn't know there was such a thing.

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

I am hoping that, by evening's end, several members of the sadly scattered Badger clan will have signed in and hoisted a mug.
Praise him with great praise!

Yeah...I really want to be an elf. I really do think I can be rather elfish at times. They wear the
coolest dresses.
Either that or I want to be Éowyn. She's just too cool for words.

I looked for a smiley like that one, but I couldn't find it. Very nice
At least it wasn't a bug or something

Now, a Rohirrim smiley. THAT would be too cool for words.
'Course, Rohirrim don't smile much.

I want to be a Rohirrim. Horse folk.
I'll agree with you on the elf dresses. Making one would be tempting except I'd have nowhere to wear the thing.
