Care take the opposition on that anyone?
Or defend my view?
Some of you may play the devil's advocate but that is not very helpful.

Why build character when you already are one?

- Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

The Greek heros and heroines are the gateway to the our past. They are a multi-millenia old mirror into ourselves.
They are vain, proud, lustful, weak and strong. They love and they hate.
The most wonderful scene in the Illiad is when Hector meets his wife on the walls of besieged Troy. Hector's baby son, Astyanax, sees Hector with his horse hair plumed helmet and crys in fright causing Hector to remove the helmet and sooth the crying babe. THAT is the epitome of the pathos. Because Hector knows he must face Achilles and that he will die and with his death the child in his arms, whom he loves as most parents love their children, and his trusting wife, Andromache, will also die. And he knows that a mighty, and once proud nation will abruptly end. Yet, he retains a hope in the gods and himself that maybe he will prevail. In either case the path is inexorably set.
Of course Andromache and Astyanax didn't die but that's beside the point.
Then there's Helen. My favorite. The ultimate wife, the ultimate harlot, the ultimate object of love, lust and power. She's the girl next door and the lady of the night.
She's Astarte, Astoreth, Astarte, Isis, Hathor, Aphrodite, Freyja, Brigit, Lilith, Jezebel and Eve in one unimaginable persona. She is the womb from which we all emerge and many strive to reenter. She is the harvest of the fields and the storm that destroys the crops. She is the harsh winter and the cool spring.
I say there's nothing wrong with the Greek Heros. They RAWK!!!!!

Sorry, FC, you have two Astarte's in there, which disqualifies the remainder of your statement. Thanks for playing.Flyingcursor wrote:She's Astarte, Astoreth, Astarte, Isis, Hathor, Aphrodite, Freyja, Brigit, Lilith, Jezebel and Eve in one unimaginable persona.
