Yeah, that one's been my favorite ere I first saw it on YouTube. It was one of the skits that was made to air in the UK, due to the difference between commercial break lengths there and here, so it didn't air in the original American run of the series.

Animal is my favorite! He can really belt it out. :)

This is up there with the version from Miller's Crossing. I always found that Tommy guns really bring out the pathos.

(I just noticed season 2 of the Muppet Show is out on DVD!)

Not surprising when you think about it. How many real Irish people sing "Danny Boy"?

Sinéad O'Connor has sung it. She's as Irish as they possibly get.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

Hey, it's cool, Animal's Irish. He has red hair and everything.

I'm sure O'Connor's version is nice--I really like her voice--but man, when Beaker hits that high note it always brings the mist to my eyes. Nothing compares.
[edited to change "Meeker" to "Beaker," dadgummit!]

That would be "Beaker" ('cause he's shaped liked a ... beaker).

Beaker, Animal and the Swedish Chef make up a trio known as The Leprechaun Brothers:

Spike: "We band of buggered."

"Beaker" makes more sense when you see him in his original environment as lab assistant to <ahem> Dr. Bunsen Honeydew.

My name is Fred. I am Irish, and I have sung "Danny boy" out loud.

Please tell me about your ten-point program. :(

That's two, Nano, in case you're keeping count.
