Years ago. I liked it a lot. The ending was great... not an American movie ending.

I've had the DVD for a few years, now. There are some really funny films come out of Ireland every once in a while. "At least it got me my apple tart."

I haven't seen it, but I knew when it came out..i must have gotten dozens of people complaining to me that i had copyrighted music (the parting glass) on my website.

It was a good opportunity to point people in the direction of O'Neill's 1850 :)

I enjoyed it. The old lady going over the cliff in the phone booth was a little rough, but funny.

If you like that sort of humour, you may be into The Vicar of Dibley, in which case you will be happy to note that a new, 2-part series from 2006 has just been released on DVD by BBC America, available from amazon.com.

I love it so, really a great movie with wonderful character... and I really also enjoy the soundtrack... Two thumbs up from me.
But since it falls unto my lot that I should go and you should not, I'll gently rise and softly call, goodnight and joy be with you all.

I've seen it more than once. Yes, I liked it.

This thread brings to mind two more of my favorite Irish comedies-

American Women (the Closer You Get)

The Snapper- I'm dyin' to see "The Van" (third in the Roddy Dole trilogy) but
the last time I checked it was too pricey.

Keep an eye open for an old BBC series, 'The Irish RM' (Royal Magistrate), which takes place in Ireland in the 1920's or thereabouts in a rural area. Loads of lunatics running around. Scams left and right. Hilarious.
