Generation Bb breath requirement ?
I am considering getting a Freeman tweaked Generation Bb and am wondering about breath requirement. I'm used to playing a Burke high D and a Mellow Dog. Recently I got a Clarke C and it takes more breath than those. Does the Generation Bb require much breath?

Just get it and play it. You have more breath than you think.Amy C. wrote:I am considering getting a Freeman tweaked Generation Bb and am wondering about breath requirement. I have a Generation blue topped one and I love it.
It would probably take the same amount of air or less than a Burke D whistle but you'll get uesd to it in no time.
Here's a tip.
When you get the whistle, dip the top of it into a cup of boiling water for about 5 seconds and then plunge it straight into cold water.
This will soften and smooth out the outer layer of the plastic and result is a softer tone with the same volume.
Works for me every time with Generations!

I'm with him. If you can make it through the star spangled banner without your inhaler, you have more than enough breath for any foreseeable whistling emergency.talasiga wrote: Just get it and play it. You have more breath than you think.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Indeed, it obviously has a larger windway so it will not play like a soprano D whistle. You also cannot compare it with Sindts or Overtons because they have very small windways, and thus more back pressure.
It is a gem of a whistle. The breath requirement is just what I would expect from a Bb whistle.
