I am a new Flickr user. I was trying to post the link to the set I created of my son's snake pictures, but the best I can do is show 'em one at a time (or, if you clink on link you can see the four pics I have put up so far). This one was about 100 yards from our tent.

hey cran! pretty snake! it looks like a cold corn snake- lots of snakes will lose their brilliance (color-wise) when they're cold or out of the sun for long periods of time. getting it under a heat lamp with a bowl of water it can dunk in if it pleases will usually perk them up, and you'll see much brighter colors.
and for a bit of extra fun- biologists used to think that there were only around 200 poisonous species of snake in the world... researchers recently realized that even constrictors and traditionally 'nonvenomous' snakes have venom- the number has jumped to over 2000!
