Dr. Phil's Test
Here is a little psychological test. My score was 39. What's yours? Do you think that your profile is accurate? If given this test by an employer, would you answer the questions honestly?
Below is Dr. Phil's test (Dr. Phil scored 55; he did this test on Oprah - she got a 38.) Some folks pay a lot of money to find this stuff out!
Don't be overly sensitive! The following is pretty accurate and it only takes 2 minutes. Don't peek, but begin the test as you scroll down and answer.
Answers are for who you are now --- not who you were in the past. Have pen or pencil and paper ready.
This is a real test given by the Human Relations Dept. at many of the major corporations today. It helps them get better insight concerning their employees and prospective employees. It's only 10 Simple questions, so grab a pencil and paper, keeping track of your letter answers to each question.

10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1
Now add up the total number of points.
OVER 60 POINTS : Others see you as someone they should "handle with care." You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.
51 TO 60 POINTS : Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of th e excitement you radiate.
41 TO 50 POINTS : Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.
31 TO 40 POINTS : Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.
21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plod der. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then , usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.
UNDER 21 POINTS : People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

Despite getting a pleasing score out of this test, I would not work for a company that gave a test like this.
Despite getting a pleasing description of my traits, I'm also quite paranoid about what corporations want to know about me, and extremely annoyed about the growing reach that corporate power has over my daily existence. Annoyed in fact is quite a mild term for the feeling I have. Ready to grab my pitchfork and a torch and join the revolution is more like it.

Tests like these were commonplace in the 60s when I was
looking for work. Aside from their intrusive nature
I think they were rubbish.
I remember once I was working at the Industrial Relations
Center of The University of Chicago, and the psychologists
refused to allow the head of a department to hire
his job pick because of her answers. He fought this
and won. She was wonderful.

I have had to take pre-employment psychological tests that were much longer and more involved than the simple test in question. One of the things that employers want to ask is if you have a history of stealing things from previous employers. They ask this question in a variety of different ways. They are also looking for behaviors that they consider would be ideal employee traits.
I know someone who is currently being considered for a postion in public safety in our city. In addition to a drug test and fingerprinting, you must pass a lie detector test. The question of stealing from a past employer is always one of the questions that is asked. The dilemma is whether you should confess that you stole an ink pen that you liked or take the chance that your "no" answer will make the instrument go off-scale.

I always knew Cowtime was a 47.
In fact I told my wife just the other day "you know, Cowtime is a 47 if she's a 43."

test
Early on in my schooling I had to take an entire day of tests - we all did
And in my occupation some of those tests are probably important.
Probably not the one that told me I was smart or the one that told me that (according to the test) I didn't think social ministry was important.
That's working with the poor, the hungry, those in need of clothing and so on. Not sure about the importance of the one that asked me if I ever thought about killing people.
If I tested again I wonder....I probably wouldn't be so smart and definitely would have care for others number one. Still not into killing people. So there you go.
37 by the way.
