WhOA got me!!
I couldn't resist and I went today to a local shop to buy a brass Feadóg in D and a nickel Generation Bb.
Both sound pretty good, so I guess I was lucky?
Now I can understand why people love Bb whistles

Bb is a sweet key. Sweetest key for an untweaked Generation.
I've had a Freeman tweaked Gen in Bb for years. Like it a bunch!
I've had a Reyburn Bb (just intonation) for a while. Love it!
I've an Overton Bb in the post from Colin in Germany as I type. I'm about to wet myself with anticipation!

It's my opinion - highly regarded (and sometimes not) by me. Peace y'all.

The first, and most deceptively innocent, stage of WhOA is "Whee!" You are about to pass into the second and far more powerful stage... "What?!? Did I buy that?!?" ... it will pass soon enough into the final, and nearly always chronic stage soon... and you will be assimilated.

Yeah, what Annie said... as long as your WHOA is limited to the cheaper whistles, it's a pretty mild illness easily controlled with the occasional purchase of another cheapie whistle. It's when you get into the "hard stuff" aka handmade whistles that it gets serious...

You call that WhOA? You're just beginning to prime the pump.
Luckily I've got a few I like now. I remember placing one order with The Whistle shop and believe I ended up with 11 whistles. One order. Even that was only about $70-$80 and pales in comparison to what others have given in to. Fortunately I haven't gotten the high-end bug yet - just an O'Brien C/D set, which was still less than $100.

WHOA
Am I the only one whose spouse is still willing to ask "How many whistles do you have now?" Quickly followed by "How many Hi D's do you really need?"

Re: WHOA
Lol, i kid you not, my wife asked me that yesterday. I was like "but they're all cheapies." She's thinking that there needs to be a forum/support group of wives of whistlers with WHoa.pastorkeith wrote:Am I the only one whose spouse is still willing to ask "How many whistles do you have now?" It only took a few months for me to get the full-blown WhOA disorder and I haven't so far regretted it. I have 6 high end ones on order and currently in the planning stages on another half dozen. It all starts with the cheapies (like Pokemon, gotta catch 'em all!). Gotta find something to do when you are single without any kids.
Hah! Try being only into low whistles, even the "cheap" ones aren't that cheap!brewerpaul wrote:Yeah, what Annie said... as long as your WHOA is limited to the cheaper whistles, it's a pretty mild illness easily controlled with the occasional purchase of another cheapie whistle. Hey Bothrops, there are 5 Susatos that are ending in 6 hours on eBay. They seem like a good price for now. This is the link to the C
