- Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

No, no, no. That's cogito ESCARGOT sum. Casey was referring to Cogito Emmons, the little known moonshiner from West Virginia. What he meant to say was, "Cogito, yer got sum?" Which is what you ask when you want to buy a Mason jar of shine.crookedtune wrote:Ummm, you recognize that snails can add?Casey Burns wrote:cogito ergot sum

OK!
Since this Corny post has taken a shine to it....
I guess it is time to direct you to Michael Cronnolly's Recipe for POITIN: http://www.irishflutes.net/mef/poitin.htm
I guess flutes isn't all he makes!
POITIN = Irish MoonShine!

A Flute from cornstalk?
I'm sure you could...COBB...one together if you used Pete Kosel's <b>Flutomat</b>
http://www.cwo.com/~ph_kosel/flutomat.html
The embouchure plate will need to be increased in thickness by glueing extra layers of cornstalk. I recommend "burning" the holes with a red hot iron, like Bamboo flutemakers use too. The carbonization around the holes will preserve them from salt acid and finger wear.
Look at some of the tools for making Bamboo flutes here...

(Click on "make Shinobue")The "gimlet" would be nice for cutting the internal nodes.
