CP: Purpleheart Rover Set

Post by OBrien »

Well, last month, I tempted you with a rosewood Rover set and had a very good response, so this month's offering is a C/D set in purpleheart. More photos can be seen at my website.

Beautiful. I saw the videos on your website. The sound is more than great, especially the African blackwood whistle. I like the telescopic whistle because I like to carry my whistle around. I don't think there are more telescopic whistles apart from the Laughing Whistle, are there?

Wow, this is a VERY nice set!

And I'm sure they play good too. I own a Rover D whistle in Delrin made by David, it's a fabulous instrument.
Sorry for my bad english...

I must be dense. I don't understand all the pieces. It seems like there are too many. And why are there holes in the metal parts? It's confusing but very beautiful.

Beautiful work, Mr. O'Brien. Your wooden whistles are extremely professional-looking.

It's two whistles that share a single mouthpiece. One is a C whistle, and the other is a D, so you just swap off the mouthpiece. The reason for the hole in the metal, is that, when assembled, the metal part is under one of the fingerholes.

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

The metal hole lines up with the wooden fingerhole when it is inserted, so the fingerhole doesn't get blocked.

The rosewoods are absolutely awesome! And these are just as pretty. :o Since I got them in the mail from David I haven't left them alone for a minute it seems. The sound they make is almost heavenly :D

Somebody save me from myself and help get my Whoa under control here before I do something incredibly silly like make an offer for this set as well. :boggle:

is that set going into production or on sale in the near future? I know that in a few months i'll be looking for something exactly like that...

OK, it's probably way out of my budget anyway, right! I couldn't really figure out from the site what the price of this one would be.

Lead me not into temptation. (Sometimes I don't need leading...)

PS. Did anyone here actually go broke from WHOA? End up divorced? Loose their dog? End up in jail for disturbing the peace? End up sad and lonely? (Hmmm... you've got to already be sad and lonely to play Irish music, no?)

Happy Whistlemaking

Just to follow up -- I received this set in the mail yesterday and it certainly exceeds expectations. Brilliant work.

Thanks again!
