Re: Punching out a Bagpiper
Well, I don´t know - playing the bagpipe outside a public library Is that so wise? I used to study for my exams at the public library, and would probably too attempt to silince the bagpiper to in some way, even though I really like the scottish bagpipe.Casey Burns wrote:see http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... /709060316
There was a similar incident in my town when some street musicians had been playing the same three tunes for days outside a local shop. The shopkeeper (normally a benevolent elderly gentleman) and his staff treathens to lynch the musicians if they didn´t leav immedately. They refused and there was fight before the advent of the police.

I dunno... he seemed to take offense at the fact it was a Scot's instrument, not the infernal noise.falkbeer wrote:Well, I don´t know - playing the bagpipe outside a public library Is that so wise? I don't know about punching a piper, but I've whacked a piper's dad. He was so intent on videoing his offspring that he was marching along with us practically trampling me. It takes a bit of room to swing my tenor mallets and after a few cautionary taps-he didn't take the hint- I just let fly...

Once, long ago, I was at a Boy Scout camp in NC with my Dad. He was taking advantage of the acoustics provided by the mountains and playing his pipes. Several angry Boy Scouts gave him a hard time and held lanterns dangerously close to his pipes. He responded in his frighteningly loud baritone with several choice words and a reminder of the value of his pipes(in excess of $3000). They promptly left him alone.

Call me prejudiced if you must, but I somehow don't think the drunken transient who committed the assault was studying for his SATs at the library that day.falkbeer wrote: Well, I don´t know - playing the bagpipe outside a public library Is that so wise? I don't think the so-called Irishman was studying history either. If so, he would've known that the Scots and the Irish have quite alot in common(not including their recipes for whisky).Wanderer wrote:Call me prejudiced if you must, but I somehow don't think the drunken transient who committed the assault was studying for his SATs at the library that day.falkbeer wrote: Well, I don´t know - playing the bagpipe outside a public library Is that so wise? The guy has obviously never been to a St Paddy's Day bash either. There's always GHB pipers playing even though they're not technically "Irish".
