Favorite online places to shop

Post by celtic_lass »

I'm shopping around now for some whistles (looking at getting a set of nickel Generations, and maybe an Original unpainted Clark), and so far it seems to me that The Whistle Shop is the cheapest.
Where are your favorite places to shop online and why? I want to make sure I'm getitng the best deal before placing an order. ;)

I like to do business with "Doc," at the Irish Flute Store. He's fair, honest, quick on his feet, helpful, and he sold me the Single Best Irish Whistle Ever Made...a used Bernard Overton Low Eb. (I said I was looking for just such a whistle....and....phhhht....he came UP with it!) (I know...LUCK...) (or IS IT?)
He also carries professionally modified "cheapies." A good whistle, that you love to play, is worth it's price.

Happy Hunting.

If I wanted a full set of Generations I wouldn't consider anything but a full set tweaked by our own Jerry Freeman (otherwise you'll just be cussing at half of them). Send him an email. He's as nice a guy as there is in the world. :)

A Jerry-tweaked C/D set will turn your head around. It's not that expensive, and you'll never look back!

Yeah, there ya go. And if there's some other key you can't live without just save your pennies and get them one at a time. :)

In my experience untweaked Generations are great for holding windows open.

And speaking of Jerry, (I'm still on-topic. It's our favorite online place to shop!), where's he been of late? I see him on eBay, but not on the boards. I hope all's well, and he's working hard on that new production model he mentioned a few months ago!!

Tell us something.: I haven't been active on the site for years. I'm busy raising grandkids so I don't get out to play much.

I like Elderly Instruments www.elderly.com if I'm not buying directly from the maker.

Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

I've bought whistles and other stuff from "Song Of The Sea" in Maine. They are very good and honest people and it's a pleasure to buy from them.

I also dealt with other shops where I found almost always helpful people, but if you ask me who is the n° 1 I have to tell Doc Jones at the Irish Flute Store: in my opinion his costumer service is unbeatable.
Sorry for my bad english...
