Out of respect for the original poster, I won't post my opinions here. I don't wish death on anyone and wish you good luck on your efforts.Dale wrote:This post is about a death penalty case and I am aware that I am probably violating my own rule about political and controversial posts by putting it here. I ask for you to indulge me. If you are strongly in favor of the death penalty, the favor I ask is that you disregard this message. For people for or against it, I ask you not to force a lock of this thread by debating the issue here. There are other places to do that and, we've done it before.

- Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

Dashing off my email to the governor, I wondered if it would do a whit of good. I wondered if he is pro death penalty or anti. I wondered if he cares what an Ohioan thinks about how justice is dispensed in Alabama. And I wondered if he would even take the time to read emails after hearing for years from people more vocal and insistent than I.
It's easy to push the send button, and it's easy to push the delete button.

It's harder (I think) to pray. But (I also think) it can't hurt.FJohnSharp wrote:Dashing off my email to the governor, I wondered if it would do a whit of good. First, thanks for sending the email. It would be absolutely stunning and frankly unbelievable if the Governor acts on this case. He hasn't done so once for any case. His predecessor, a Democrat, (who is Federal prison right now, by the way), never acted on a case. In fact, I'm not sure if a governor of Alabama has ever acted to stop an execution. If so, it's been a long time and it's been the rarest of events.FJohnSharp wrote:Dashing off my email to the governor, I wondered if it would do a whit of good. The best we can hope for, I'm afraid, from this Governor is that these emails will soften him a little on the issue so that, maybe, he'll fight us a less hard on efforts to either stop or reform the death penalty in Alabama.
Thanks for your effort.
