Quite a few people picked Saturday to get married because of the date 7/7/07.

Are you superstitious? Do you have a lucky number? Any habits concerning numbers or numerology?

I am reminded of the Star Trek Deep Space Nine exchange. A Klingon and Romulan and human are preparing for battle. The Klingon wishes everyone "good luck." The Romulan qips, "I don't need or believe in luck." To that the Klingon says, "good, that means more for the rest of us."

It's a great day... it's the one where i get to remind hubby dearest that I have a birthday the next day.

I've found that 09/22 tends to be a date that has played numerous significant parts in my life. Don't know why, but it has.

7/7/07 is the 2 year anniversary of the London bombings. Hopefully it will be an uneventful day across the globe.

So far, I've never observed any special thing in my life happening on any special date or anything being related to numbers other than that as the number of the year gets higher I seem to be stiffer in the joints. My mind just can't get around what connection there could be to a day with a certain number and with events. Isn't our calendar a human invention (I know there is a relation to cycles of planets and the earth)---but couldn't we have numbered it some different way? Our year numbering is based on a religious idea. Don't people in some different cultures have different calendars? What would 7/7/07 be on their calendars? Would it still be a lucky day? It just doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe you have to believe it will be a lucky or unlucky day for the day to be that way. I think I'm being too serious today

Nix 42. That was the answer until Fenchurch discovered the question. I'm pretty sure it changed after that.

As to luck, while I don't believe in it, I did get to go home early today...

I'm not the least bit superstitious...but my older son was born on 7-7-77.
He's having a big birthday bash this Saturday.

My youngest daughter was almost born on that day...but she managed to delay until 7-11-77.

In my husband's family it seems that the 29th of whatever month is the day things happen. Both his parents died on that day, a sister finally got her divorce after a 5 year battle on the 29, etc. really, it goes on and on, each time the 29. Two years ago I had to have major, major emergency surgery. Guess what day the surgery was done. Yep, 29th.

I don't believe in such stuff, but this 29th thing is really weird.

In some cultures superstition is stronger than others. Chinese couples often consult an astrologer in order to pick the wedding day. Certain days are said to bring good luck and the opposite on other days.

Major league baseball players are notoriously superstitious. Things like stepping on the foul line or making sure not to, or a certain piece of clothing or good luck charm, or a hundred other ritualistic habits.

I am surprised that so few admit to being superstitious. Something such as blowing out candles on a birthday cake and making a wish is close to the border of tradition and superstition. The ritual is rooted in superstition. Here is a link with more about the history of the birthday candle ritual:
