Mostly. Maybe 90%.

Actually, we export our tv producers, directors, technicians, etc. to the US. At one point, over half the staff at CNN was Canadian.

Apparently a lot of Canadian newscasters get hired in the US. I have read that Americans prefer the way we speak English. I'm not completely sure what that means, as there are several distinct accents across Canada, but I'm guessing they mean "the people with the least Canadian accent."

For this 'Merkin, not the accent(s), which I find...um...quaint ( ), but for the apparent command of syntax and vocabulary. US citizens could do worse than emulate the Hosers for New World English at its best, eh?

I was following a series called "Intelligence" but it's on a week night I'm rarely home. It centers around a mover/shaker in Vancouver organized crime and his dealings as an informant for a mover/shaker in the government intelligence network. You get to see both worlds and it's pretty tightly woven. It beats the pants off of Law & Order or any other American crime dramas.

Rick Mercer is hilarious, especially when he drives around the U.S. taking bogus surveys.

"Hatching, Matching, and Dispatching", a CBC comedy set in outport Newfoundland about a family that operates a combination funeral home, ambulance service and wedding chapel. Dark, a bit twisted, and somewhat off-colour (by American standards), but very funny. Its kind of like "Fawlty Towers" meets “Six Feet Under” with a dash of “Waking Ned Devine”. Not sure if its been renewed for another season, but worth catching on reruns or on DVD when they release it.

Cheers
