Selective Mutism was something new to me. But I have done this two or three times as a child. Just pretend to have a sore throat, and get by with sign language for two or three days. The best bit is when you start to talk again, you throat is croaky from disuse, so no awkward questions were ever asked!
I'd love to do it again as an adult, but so much of my work takes place over the phone.
i would have so gotten my clocked cleared as a child if i had pulled something like this. when the movie, "little miss sunshine" came out, my brother e mailed me and my wife said to me (in the same day) DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. THAT WOULD JUST BE EXTRA WORK FOR US!.

congratulations on pulling that off though. wasn't it worth it?

It was paradise.

Middle name (most used by hubby and online) plus first three letters of surname. Catchy, eh? :)

I always thought your first name was annie and you were a student or a professor at an institution of higher learning called MCU.

Surely I'm not the only one?

But I chose this username beacause I like the sound of the word.
Especially when Cathy Bates says it in the movie Rat Race.

Most of my life has been spent around beef cattle. Anyone who's ever fooled with livestock knows they always demand attention at the worst times. Fixing fence on Christmas because the cows got out of a field, pulling a calf at 3 in the morning, chasing a bull who decided the grass was greener on the other side, vaccinating, deworming, selling off calves, etc. you get the picture.

When my girls were teenagers and trying to come up with something for personalized car license plates I thought of "cowtime" because with cattle it's always cowtime.-they absolutely hated anything involving the cattle except the market checks of course and they did not like "cowtime". I did, so whenever I need an online name- that's it. I've never had it denied because someone else already had it either :)

"Tyler Morris" is one of the names I go by, yet it is not my name.

I'm a fan of American TV shows of the 60's, Adam-12 and Route 66.

I was also christened by my parents.

I have no complaints on any level. I'm pretty happy about the way everything has turned out.

I wanted something that could neither be pronounced nor remembered.

...Actually, I was just looking for a Yahoo email that wasn't taken.
I thought "Surely, Gaelic is obscure enough that an original username
will be easy to come by!" I was wrong. The best I could do was
"fearfaoin2012", which I rejected. Fear faoin, by the way, is Gaelic
for "silly guy" or "foolish man", unless I translated poorly (which is
entirely possible). I also sometimes use the Latin equivilant, virstultus.

I play a lot of oldtime music. At the time I started using this name, I was learning a few weird Appalachian fiddle tunes. and wrestling with their odd structures.

"peeplj" = first 5 of last name plus first initial

When I first joined the board, this was my username on a system where I worked at the time; to keep things simple, I used the same username, since I didn't realize it would also be my screen name.

I actually considered emailing Dale and asking him to change it, but decided it would be more trouble than it's worth.

Most other boards, I'm "Jim_P," or "Silver Jim" or "woodflute" or some such.
