Hammy Hamilton makes inexpensive G flutes as a practice instrument for kids with little hands. They are alimunium tubing with a plastic head. I've tried a few and they are good fun. Being cylindrcal they are more fife-like.

Regards,

Harry.

Sweetheart makes one,
Bleazey makes one,
I've heard lately Dave Copley makes one,
Skip Healy makes one.

hi gian marco, marin from croatia here.
i also suggest you to lake look at sweetheart fifes and flutes.i recieved last week their rosewood f flute and i am really satisfied considering a price of that flute. in tune, loud, good looking. i supose it will be same story with their g flute ( fife). my f flute was costed me around 180 euros with postage .for g fife amount will be even smaller.

I have a Sweetheart Rosewood G that is pretty loud, they are not that expensive either. Plus you can probably get one without a waiting list. The intonation is a bit odd in some spots, but nothing a good player can't play in tune.

Yes, the sweetheart rosewood G has good volume
and it sounds good. Used it a lot on the street.

One possible defect:
no tuning slide and the flute/fyfe is in tune
with the tenon all the way in. Consequently
you cannot tune sharp if the other instruments
are sharp; also you cannot tune sharp if the
flute is cold.

It may be possible to ask Ralph S to make one
more tunable. His wife once suggested I do
this. If you are playing with other instruments, however,
the present flute is risky.

Doug Tipple has a tunable G flute with
good volume.

Tapped that one, Ralph Sweet said he can't make a G flute with a slide because it would cost him too much to buy all the silver in the right sizes.

I find that mine is in tune when it is out a little bit, but it doesn't leave much room for sharpening. Before someone else says it, it isn't the instrument so much as it is the player. But we all have heard that enough times on this board. My point is that because it is flat for Jim and I doesn't mean it will be for other players.

I am sure a Tipple G would get the job done perfectly fine.

Dave Copley's Flutes are very very nice I have an Eb by him and it is a great Flute. You can't go wrong with a Copley.

And the classic G.........the "Reliable Bros." ceramic, 6-hole, or the chromatic is a real trumpet as far as volume goes (no tuning slide though)

I heard Skip Healy play one of his fifes. It was obscenely loud.

Sylvain Barou was selling his G Bamboo Rhiannon at a very reasonable price. No slide though.
