i've always been partial to the name that snake gave our ragtag little
group out in idaho: "the band."

well, actually, norman and i never really cared much for that name. it's
just that snake was bigger than both of us -- even when i stood on
norman's shoulders -- and we thought it best to just smile weakly and go
along with the snake on most of his ideas.

i learned from all of this that self-preservation is a strong instinct -- even
more so than belonging to a group with a cool name.
ever been mugged by a quaker?

I forgot to mention that here in Portland, OR, myself and some of the musicians I play with have been known to play ceilis under the name "The Damned Ceili Band."

I got in here late; I had civil engineering friends in college so we named our little garge band "Activated Sludge". Any working CEs out there want to give a short talk on it? :-)

There were plans to but after their last album (Bedlam Ballroom) I'm not expecting much. Since Maxwell left the band the music took a step backwards and lost it's "umph" that made it so wonderful in the first place. :(

Wisdom is not truth.
Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love.

"Friendly Proposition"

"Digital Camera"

"Crackers"

All plausible names for a band, I think.

Best wishes,
Jerry

I always thought that a punk band with the name "Crimes against Nature " would go far. Personal favorites for real names are "Buddy whatshisname and the Other fellows", and "Moxie Fruvus" (check my spelling).

I was in a bluegrass band with the unfortunate name of Fertile Dirt. I was outvoted for lack of a better idea.

John Cougar Concentration Camp
Just change it to "John Cougar Concertina Camp" and you have an excellent Irish Trad band name.

Bands I have been in:

"Doctor Thanatos and the Love Cart"
"Dan Henshall and the Butter in the Cupboard"
"The Bi-Polar Bears"
"The Hot Beverage Club"

And My latest attempt at a trad band (and one of the sweetest sounding phrases in english)

"Five Hand Horse"
