My brother suggested that for his wedding (think best men etc dressed as imperial guards, other guests as stormtroopers etc) but he was quickly shouted down by his fiance. She wanted a pirate theme...

I believe (and hope) they're going for a normal wedding now.

Some friends were getting married, and the bride realized that the
opening to The Wedding March was the same as the opening to
the ending Medal Ceremony from Episode 4 (A New Hope).

The first four bars passed as normal, then it diverged. Suddenly,
you could tell which pews held Star Wars fans.

Oooh, I'm so pointing that out to my brother.

I'd joked with my brother once that for his wedding the bride's march should be the Vader theme from the original series.

Are those costumes really any more ridiculous than "real wedding" costumes?

Think about it.....

Oi!

Nothing wrong with a kilt. I reckon it looks a lot smarter than the usual wedding get up.

Ok, i give, you're absolutely right.

Honestly, there was no WAY anyone was getting me into a regular tux!
not a chance in hell!
Even for super formal stuff we do in Lodge, I'll rent a kilt rather than dress meself up in one o those monkey suits.

I'll have to see if I can dig up our wedding photos and have em scanned so y'all can see what my kilt looked like at the time.

There's a picture of me in a kilt at a wedding in the cutie pie thread, although I've since got my own one in a better tartan (that was a hire kilt in a generic "pride of scotland" tartan).

The kilt makes it feel like a special occasion, I wear a suit (well, trousers/shirt/tie combo anyway) at work so it doesn't feel like making an effort anymore.

The kilt I had at the time was a Blackwatch tartan. Rented all my groomsmen's kilts to match from the same place I bought mine (there's really only like one or two places in SLC to get a kilt  ).
Sold it the year after to a friend who'd never be able to afford one otherwise. I wanted one with the Buchanan tartan (our family tartan on my grandmother's side), but haven't gotten around to getting it yet.

No way. Try a corduroy suit with wiiiide lapels and a vest. Brown. Oh, and one of those polyester art-print shirts (continuing the study in browns) with wing collars, and a stupid-looking wide nubby necktie.

Yes, I actually did. But it was the mid-1970s, if that absolves me at all.

And to cinch the deal, my hair was unevenly long and parted in the middle.

At least I had the good taste not have the tie be corduroy, too.
