Whistling on myspace

Post by john_t »

Does any know of any whistlers on myspace?

I haven't set up a page because I'm quite terrible at whistling. I tried to get my local folkies (fishguard folk) to set up a page by contacting them via email. They haven't replied though. Here is an example of a group that has a myspace music page. Bellowhead are a folk band with lots of brass instruments! They don't have the magic ingredient though - a whistler!

If you want to set up a music page click on music at the top of www.myspace.com and choose artist sign up. Lets bring folk to the youth and masses!

In other news I have mp3s of me playing, they aren't very good though! I posted two of these before on someone's big whistle and dixon low d review byut nobody commented on them.

There are these two pirates :

And the lovely Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh (of Danu), great voice and a good whistle player. Check out the tune "Cnocan an Teampaill". Good stuff.

I've always liked Phil Cunningham's touch on the whistle too:

Unfortunately, there are some real wanna-bes on myspace too...

Like me, for example... www.myspace.com/praisewhistler

 Although it would be interesting to see how many C&F folks are on there...

My band, athas, just added a new clip on our myspace profile that has me on low g whistle. The set is: Silver Slipper/Dusty Miller/The Snowy Path

Add us as a friend if you're on myspace!

Oh, and in case folks are wondering, my low g is a Chieftain NR.

Here's mine:

I'm just an amateur, and it's a mixture of styles, not just ITM. Although, now that I just got an actual good whistle today (Dixon Trad), I'll probably be doing more whistle tunes than I have in the past.
