Glands in California

Post by glands »

Finally!

Start work at UCSF tomorrow (May 1).

Closing on a residence this month. It has an excellent room for future pipers club meetings. Living in a hotel for a few weeks.

Pipes with me. Contact me via pm or glands@comcast.net if you are local and wanna have some tunes.

Once an Orioles fan....always an Orioles fan.

Endocrinologists have always been fascinated by "Giants".....and, in these times, "The Giants" have been fascinated by things endocrinologic (ummmm....hormones). Guess I'll have to side with them. Sorry Larry.....could not pull for a buncha people who call themselves dodgers...what are they dodging anyways?

Closing on the property moved up to Monday! Good thing as this hotel living is not optimal. Folks here at the Stanyan Park Hotel did let me get the pipes out in the parlor today. Regs will need a little California adjustment.

Hey Lewis,

I agree, the folks in LA LA Land are a bit dodgey, but I guess with all of that traffic 24/7 you'd have to be.

Who names a team after a bird anyway? GO GIANTS!

Welcome to Giants land. The A's are East Bay ya know and we are West Bay.

Cheers!

Obviously, they're dodging the trolleys that used to run in front of Ebbets Field.

Congrats on the new digs! So is Nancy Pelosi your new representative?

Well the name started when they were the Brooklin Dodgers, and I am sure they had to do a lot of dodging there.

They dodged streetcars in flatbush, if I remember the story, but then maybe not... but from Wiki:

..."Teams of this era played in two principal ballparks, Washington Park and Eastern Park. They first earned the nickname "Trolley Dodgers," later shortened to Dodgers, while at Eastern Park during the 1890s because of the difficulty fans (and players) had in reaching the ballpark due to the number of trolley lines in the area. The name "Trolley Dodgers" is recorded separately in two newspapers on September 3, 1895. [1] The club also engaged in a series of mergers during this period, acquiring the New York Metropolitans in 1888 for territorial protection and star contracts, merging with the Brooklyn Wonders in 1891 as part of the Players League settlement, and merging with the Baltimore Orioles (NL) in 1900 as part of the National League's consolidation of clubs...."

Impressive bit of work with the history, Fel.

Richard, I've heard that designation. We'll have to take the lead of the NFC of the SCUPC and call ourselves the WBPCSFUPC....west bay piping contingent of the san francisco uilleann pipers club! :D

Larry..... just who is Nancy Pelosi? :-? Hey....next time we're in LA I'd like for you to talk to Em about fencing. She loves the bed you rec'd.

Ya'll come to SF for the pipers meeting this Sunday. The bees will be buzzin'.

Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

Hey Lewis, glad to hear you landed in Californ-eye-A without problem. Congrats on the new job.

Since you are now a resident on the left coast, I'm afraid we have to revoke your South East Uilleann Pipers club membership :-(

It sounds like there are a couple of pipers out there who might play a tune or two with you though!

Seriously, you're always welcome in Atlanta and we'll miss you and your support of piping down here.

Thanks for everything and we'll see ya' around the Tionols.

Regards,
Gary
