I am currently in the middle of moving my in-laws to the small apartment which will be their final "resting place". They have more than 40 years worth of *stuff* (that's the nice word for it) from two houses. They have declining health issues, so my wife (mostly) and I are doing the move, and going through their stuff. We inherit what they don't want from the house, plus the dog (not happy about that one -- see a much older thread -- too lazy to find it).

So, I sympathize.

Yes, Izzy, you really should be more clear and concise when attempting to make a point. This fuzzy-wuzzy, beat-around-the-bush style of communication just leads to misinterpretation and misunderstanding.

Clear? Concise? Why on earth would I want to do that? It's much more fun to beat around the bush and make you all wonder what I'm talking about :P

That's because my whole first post was in code. If you'd gotten the decoder ring, you'd know what I said. And really, deej, I'd love to tell you what it says because you're such a stand-up kind of guy, but if I were to, I'd have to kill you. But that'd be messy, and since I've been cleaning up messes all day, I'm just not up for it. Sorry!

You know, Izzy, there are a lot of websites out there with some really good moving tips that might make things easier. These is just one I happened across:
Color coordinate.
Designate a color for each room in the new home, such as yellow for kitchen, orange for dining room, etc. Apply colored stickers on the box near the box number. In your new home. Put a matching sticker on the door to each room. The movers will know where to put everything when they arrive at the desitination. It's also helpful to post a big sign on the wall in the room where you want boxes stacked, ("Boxes here please") to keep them out of furniture and traffic areas.
Eeeew. Orange for the dining room? I think you should get really neat colors for the stickers. Sorry  .

You truly do have my deepest sympathies. Moving is just about the worst thing a person has to do, in my opinion.

Surely you can get some wonderful homeschooling lessons from this experience. All those Teachable Moments!

Seriously, you have my DEEPEST sympathy. It's a struggle for us to find anything and we've been living in the same house for 10 yrs. You must be battling Unimaginable Forces of Chaos!!!.

Good grief! Homeschooling? I can't even find the box that has the books in it, let alone DO it? Well....we can do home ec. for a while as we unpack...yeah, that'll work ;)

Yes, chaos abounds at Nuevo Casa Izz....but Viejo Casa Izz is chaos free! YAY!!!! There is nothing left at the old place, and boxes upon boxes at the new. I don't have to jump into the car to clean and pack again! Now all I have to do is unpack.

Now you don't have to hear about my moving woes...aren't you all glad? ;)
