Well, that would be a fine thing wouldn't it? Here I have all these tips and explanations bookmarked and if I were to go look for some information on Seamus Ennis' translation into English of some particular slow air there would be nothing there!! What can you be thinking, dude!!!!! I mean, your posts are spread out over the maximum number of years and you say something or show photographs you've taken. Imagine how those of us who post frivolously and yet still retain a sense of shame feel! I'm afraid I cannot be nearly as sympathetic to your plight as I would normally try to be !Peter Laban wrote: What's this thing with post count, I find it highly embarrassing to go so high and have in fact asked to kill the account and all posts when I reached 5K. .....
who has the most posts?

It's not the size of the post count. It's what you say with them.gonzo914 wrote:We really should poll the womenfolk.
Please tell us, ladies -- Does post count really matter?
(Because if it does, poor gonzo is screwed, as he did not even make it onto page 1.)

Well, just don't look at those numbers if they are goading you to post when you don't really want to.Cranberry wrote:I'm being truthful. I myself don't think many people are motivated by post count---most posts seem to have a definite reason for being made, they are deliberate responses to other posts in a thread. The ones that are very silly (my specialty!) are usually made within the context of a silly, funny conversation so the person is just joining in with the general craziness for fun and socializing, not to get a post count up.
I find it is helpful to look at someone's post count if the person does or says something a little unusual----then I can see if the person is quite new and maybe isn't used to communicating by written posts. So I wouldn't really want to hide post count for that reason.

I could care less about my post count...there was a time that I did care (when I was under 2k and I was ahead of Dub and actively trying to stay ahead of him...but that was ages ago), but I don't even know how many I have these days. I do more reading these days than posting.

Hmm... I think that "Joined Date" is more useful in that regard.Cynth wrote:...I find it is helpful to look at someone's post count if the person does or says something a little unusual----then I can see if the person is quite new and maybe isn't used to communicating by written posts. There's and old Irish saying that says pretty much anything you want it to.
