Yes, he was either Jeeves or Wooster (see, I'm not much better--I don't know which,) on an English comedy. It is kind of a surprise though, when I only ever see House commercials, to hear his standard speaking voice. He does Yank well.

He's also in Blackadder and countless other UK comedies. He also had a cameo in Friends.

It's weird though, House makes me forget what Hugh Laurie was like in those.

Here's a reminder:

My first exposure to him was through Blackadder, so I have a hard time taking him seriously. I keep thinking of him as the Prince of Wales.

However, I'm sure if I watched House enough that'd correct itself.

Heather, the solution to this problem is obvious. Simply insist that he is not English!

Oh wow....that just really, REALLY looks weird. Even to me!

As for Dr. House, after thinking about it, I do seem to recall knowing that he was English somewhere down the line. But he does do Yank pretty well for a Brit ;) And I'm still in a state of confusion when I see Tyler post now....I hear Dr. House, but I keep expecting him to ask for tea and Marmite :P

Whenever I see Dr House I keep expecting him to bang his walking stick on the floor and turn into Mighty Thor.

I wasn't surprised to discover that Hugh Laurie is an actor playing a part.
Actors do that sort of stuff.

My surprise wasn't that he was playing a part. I quite obviously understand that his name isn't really Dr. House and that he isn't really a doctor (despite the fact that he plays one on TV). I didn't realize he was British, because he really does do Yank well. And actually, it was more of a joke, because I too am well aware that actors do that sort of stuff :P
