Wow, and it's not even a composite image. That is beautiful! :)

It reminds me of how long its been since I've seen the stars from a dark sky site. Must get away again soon.

I recommend the Algarve or The Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry. Lovely dark skies! Great for viewing.

Tell us something.: I've picked up the tinwhistle again after several years, and have recently purchased a Chieftain v5 from Kerry Whistles that I cannot wait to get (why can't we beam stuff yet, come on Captain Kirk, get me my Low D!)

Thx, but Ontario has some officially designated dark sky areas set up for just such a purpose. At eight hours drive away from me, it requires a bit more planning than just hopping into the car, though. :D

Really? That's very cool. The last time I saw the stars undimmed by city lights was after Hurricane Fran in NC, when we were without power for two weeks. I think I was the only one of us who actually enjoyed that time...the skies were glorious at night.

just think, if all of those stars were a sun to a whole different solar system to other life out there. :boggle: it kind of make you feel a little small.
